Lead corporate business developers to uncover problems and solutions through a user-centered discovery process.
My position was at the intersection of corporate business development and the UX team, and I led a multidisciplinary team of business developers and UX researchers. To create a new business, I began by identifying a problem significant to a large audience and guided the team through a user-centered process. This approach was new to the corporate business team and taught me valuable lessons in user advocacy.
The complexity of early-stage product management and startegy.
- Translated user needs into structured user journeys, UX workflows, wireframes, and early prototypes.
- Led collaboration with key stakeholders to refine product vision and roadmap.
- Aligned user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility with teams across business and machine learning.
- Established internal and external partnerships to support early development.
- Presented data-driven progress to senior management for ongoing investment.
- Developed a team growth strategy and helped with recruitment.
Combining vocabularies between business and design.
Leading in a non-design environment also taught me valuable lessons about leadership, particularly in facilitating a designerly process for non-design stakeholders. This was also the first time when as a Design Leader, I also managed the complexities of team capacity, which taught me a lot.
